Description

Product Overview

The JQ Werks MADTRACE® GEN2 Functional Transfer Unit Module is a compact relay control module designed for low-current control and signal switching applications. Equipped with 4 independent relay channels, including 1 latching channel and 3 standard channels, the unit provides flexible control options for customized vehicle functions and accessories.

Each channel features COM (Common), NO (Normally Open), and NC (Normally Closed) terminals, allowing the output configuration to be selected according to the application. The standard channels operate only while the corresponding control input is active, while the latching channel maintains its switching state after the input is released and can retain that state even after the vehicle is powered off. Independent status indicators provide a clear visual reference of each channel’s operating state.

The module connects to the MADTRACE® GEN2 system through a dedicated replacement main wiring harness. Matching plug-in connectors replace the existing harness connections, while an additional 4-pin connector connects directly to the Functional Transfer Unit.

Features

  • 4 Independent Relay Channels: Includes 1 latching channel and 3 standard channels for different control requirements.
  • COM / NO / NC Terminals: Each channel supports normally open or normally closed wiring configurations.
  • Latching State Retention: The latching channel maintains its switching state after the control input is released and can retain that state after vehicle power-off.
  • Independent Status Indicators: Provide a visual reference of each channel’s operating state.
  • Push-In Quick Connectors: Allow convenient wiring to the relay output terminals.
  • Clearly Labeled Channels and Terminals: Support straightforward wiring, identification, and maintenance.
  • Omron Signal Relays: Designed for low-current control and signal switching applications.
  • Plug-In Harness Connections: A dedicated replacement main harness uses matching connectors and an additional 4-pin connection for the module.

Installation Guide

Installation requires replacing the existing MADTRACE® GEN2 main wiring harness with the dedicated Functional Transfer Unit harness. The replacement harness uses matching plug-in connectors and features an additional 4-pin connector that connects directly to the module.

  1. Disconnect Power: Disconnect the relevant power supply before removing or connecting any wiring.
  2. Replace the Main Harness: Remove the existing MADTRACE® GEN2 main wiring harness and install the dedicated Functional Transfer Unit harness, reconnecting each matching plug to its corresponding connection.
  3. Connect the Module: Plug the additional 4-pin connector into the Functional Transfer Unit. Ensure all connectors are fully seated and secure.
  4. Wire the Controlled Device: Connect the device’s control or signal circuit to the appropriate relay output terminals according to the intended application. Follow the relay contact ratings and wiring precautions outlined in the Notes section below.

Installation Note: The plug-in connections apply to the replacement main harness and its connection to the Functional Transfer Unit. Wiring between the module’s relay outputs and any external device is application-specific and must be completed separately.

Notes

The relay contacts are rated for a maximum of 125 VAC / 0.3 A or 60 VDC / 0.6 A.

This product is designed exclusively for low-current control and signal switching applications. Do not connect high-current loads, high-power accessories, or other devices that exceed the relay contact ratings directly to the Functional Transfer Unit. This includes, but is not limited to, high-power lighting, motors, pumps, fans, or other high-current electrical equipment.

For applications requiring control of higher-power loads, an external power relay, contactor, or other suitable power switching device must be used between the Functional Transfer Unit and the load. Before installation, verify that the voltage and current being switched by the Functional Transfer Unit are within the relay contact ratings.

For applications requiring a channel to remain active for an extended period, the latching channel is recommended. Retention of the relay’s switching state does not supply power to the connected device; device operation still depends on its power supply.

Always disconnect the relevant power supply before wiring or modifying any connections.

Warranty
